340 Stealth Pump / Reverse Polarity

I heard the 340 Stealth Pump may have reverse-polarity compared to the pump I have in my car now.  What does this mean, what should I do about it, and if the fuel pump is accidently wired wrong, could it be damaged?

The original 340 Stealth Pump, released in February 2011, had a positive/negative orientation issue in some applications. This was corrected in late 2011 by reversing the pin positions on the pump and pigtail. Simultaneously, inlet end caps on models 11141 and 11142 were updated for better filter fit, and the cap color changed from white to red for cosmetic distinction.

All versions of the 340 Stealth Pump have correct positive/negative markings molded into the outlet end cap. Ensure the wire connected to the positive terminal is the 12V hot lead for proper polarity. Reverse wiring causes the pump to run backward, resulting in no flow or pressure. While brief reverse operation won’t immediately damage the motor, prolonged running can harm the pump due to lack of lubrication and cooling. If the pump runs but produces no flow or pressure, check the wiring polarity before extended use.
