Fuel System / High Base Fuel Pressure / Which Pump and Regulator Needed
I need a fuel system that can run high base fuel pressure between 70-120 PSI continuous. What Aeromotive electric fuel pump and regulator can I use?
No Aeromotive electric fuel pump is suitable for continuous operation above 70 PSI. For high base pressures (70-120 PSI), use Aeromotive EFI Bypass Regulators (think part numbers 13113 or 13134) with mechanical pumps, which are better suited for high-pressure demands. Electric pumps lose efficiency at high pressures, while mechanical pumps maintain flow and RPM effectively.
For extreme cases, two electric pumps can be plumbed "in series" to double pressure while maintaining flow, such as two A1000 pumps supporting 1,000 FWHP at 120 PSI. Ensure pumps have compatible flow curves (differential flow within 10-20%) to avoid damage or performance issues.
**Note:** Avoid mismatched pumps with significantly different flow rates.
