Fuel Pressure Falls After Aggressive Maneuvers Or Events
During hard stops or aggressive maneuvers, like after a burnout or during a road-course event, my fuel pressure falls and it takes a long time to come back up, why?
Ensure the fuel tank or cell is full, as hard braking can cause fuel to surge, allowing the pump to draw air. In drag racing, refill the cell between runs. Check for supply or pickup issues, such as restrictive pre-pump filters that are too small or fine, causing cavitation or loss of prime. Use a free-flowing, coarse inlet filter and ensure the fuel line is adequately sized. Also, verify the tank has a proper vent to prevent vacuum buildup, which hinders re-priming.
