Waterman Racing - Cable Servicing
After 3 or 4 events remove the core out of the cable case from the back adjustable end. Wipe the core off as you pull it out. Brake clean the core and inspect it for wear or fraying at the hex ends as this is where you'd have problems. If it looks good, reinstall the core back into the case using high temperature grease, like a wheel bearing grease. Waterman uses a 1" foam paint brush to apply the grease as it's re-inserted into the case. Install the front cable hex into the female drive and tighten front large nut. Now check for the 1/8" end play and adjust accordingly as needed.
