Transplanting EFI Engine / Returnless Fuel Rail / Fuel Line Connection

I’m transplanting an EFI engine with a “returnless” fuel rail into a street-rod.  The “returnless” fuel rail on the new engine has only one fuel line connection.  Do I need a bypass regulator?  How should it be plumbed?  Can I mount the regulator back at the tank or should it be near the engine?

Yes, a bypass regulator with a return line is still needed. Placing it near the fuel rail inlet works best, though rear mounting is possible. For factory "returnless" fuel rails (with only an inlet), the regulator must be before the rail, requiring an AN adapter. Aeromotive offers adapters for this.

Popular regulators for "returnless" setups are Part numbers 13101 and 13109. Avoid factory filter-regulators (like Corvette's) with pumps over 250 LPH, as they can cause false high pressure and reduce pump life. For high performance, consider replacing stock rails with Aeromotive Billet Fuel Rails.
