Regulator Consistent Pressure / Gauge Reading Problem
My regulator doesn’t seem to keep consistent pressure, every time I look at the gauge it reads something different, it’s driving me crazy, what is the problem?
Liquid-filled fuel pressure gauges often show inaccurate readings due to temperature changes. The sealed liquid expands or contracts with heat, causing case pressure to fluctuate by up to 7 psi, making the needle move even though fuel pressure remains constant. To test, heat the gauge with a heat gun or blow dryer while running the fuel pump; the reading will drop as the liquid warms. Releasing the case plug restores accuracy.
Aeromotive now offers advanced liquid-filled gauges (P/N 15632 for carbureted, 15633 for EFI) with a pin-valve to equalize case pressure, ensuring accurate readings at any temperature.
